Chanta is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified School Social Worker in the state of New Jersey.  She specializes in issues related to parent-child conflict, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, body image and sexuality concerns. 

 

She has a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Child Development from Spelman College in Atlanta, G.A.  Chanta also has her Master's of Social Work from Rutgers University and her Master's of Education in Human Sexuality from Widener University. 

 

Chanta has been providing psychotherapy to adolescents and adults for over 10 years in various settings, including schools, community mental health agencies, and HIV/AIDs prevention organizations.

Chanta has extensive training in issues related to LGBTQ youth, crisis and tragedy management, group dynamics, body image, anxiety, depression suicide prevention, pregnancy prevention, healthy relationships, HIV/AIDS and other STIs, and dating violence.

 

Currently, she is the Co-Founder and Director of Therapeutic Services at Blue Counseling & Wellness Center where she works with womxn of color and folks in romantic relationships who are interested in improving their self-esteem, experiencing sexual difficulties, and premarital counseling.  Chanta aims to help womxn reduce shame related to their sexuality and finding pleasure in not only their sex lives but their lives as a whole. She is also the curator of the 21 Days of Recharging Your Sexual Energy Challenge.

Chanta is the author of For Colored Girls Who Need a Break When Being A Super Woman Is Just Too Much. This guided journal and coloring book is designed for womxn and femmes of color who are always serving others and are looking to take a moment to themselves and reflect on the meaningful relationships in their life.

In addition to providing therapy to adolescents and adults, Chanta is also an adjunct professor at Bloomfield College.  She has taught courses related to general, social, and developmental psychology as well as human sexuality.  Teaching has given Chanta the opportunity to guide students in their coursework and in their pursuit to finding a career that is aligned with their interests, passions, and abilities.

 

Philosophy:  Chanta is in love with love.  She believes that everyone needs and deserves love.  Whether its from a caring parent, a supportive partner, or a cherished friend, love can help conquer some of the biggest battles life throws your way.
